One of the Books Beyond Words series for healthcare professionals, parents and carers who support people with learning difficulties
Getting close to someone in a relationship is exciting and rewarding. But it's important to stay healthy and safe. The pictures in this book help you to explore what you need to do to stay healthy and safe in a loving relationship.
Ed wants a girlfriend. But how do you ask a girl out? And what do you do when she says No? Ed finds a girlfriend, but still needs advice as he and his girlfriend grow closer and decide they want to have sex. How can they love safely?
This is a story that does not need words. If you are reading the book with a person who has a learning disability, try encouraging them to tell the story in their own way. They can just look at the pictures and talk through how Ed and his girlfriend work things out. They can use the pictures and the story to ask their own questions and talk about their sexual experiences and their relationships. As well as the pictures, a sample story line is included with additional information.
